Nothing gives me more joy than to meet enthusiastic young artists in my travels.

Through a 2019 Indiana Arts in the Parks and Historic Sites grant, plein air artist and creative advocate Tamara Brown celebrates the rich landscapes and resources of Indiana’s state parks by painting on location at six unique park settings. Her outdoor art demonstrations will encourage visitors to interact with her as she shares information about the plein air painting process, offers a hands-on painting activity for all ages, and draws attention to the special scenery found in the state parks that inspire her artwork.

The Arts in the Parks and Historic Sites program is a partnership between the Indiana Arts Commission (IAC) and the Indiana Department of Natural Resources (DNR). This program will enable Indiana citizens to not only enjoy arts activities at Indiana’s state parks and historic sites, but also celebrates the Indiana Bicentennial, the Centennial of Indiana State Parks, and the 50th Anniversary of the IAC.
